June’s Magnificent 7 Consumer Articles

Nommag72008_2Larry Cragun is at it again…reading thousands of posts and determining which one’s cut the mustard to be nominated for his monthly Magnificent 7.   At the end of the year, he has the gynormous task of reviewing his monthly nominees from 2008 and narrowing all 84 post down to the Magnificent 7 of 2008.   I’m thankful he does this because, as much reading as I do, Larry always seems to find important consumer focused articles that I’ve missed.

It’s always an honor to be considered one of the Magnificent 7 and for June Have You Co-Signed For a Mortgage? was recognized.

Do check out my fellow nominees by visiting Real Estate Undressed…and please thank Larry for his dedication.

April 3, 2008 is “Good People Day” Pass It On!

I’m a big fan of Gary Vaynerchuck for many reasons:

  1. He’s hysterically funny.
  2. He reviews wine in common easy to understand terms.
  3. He’s mastered web marketing 2.0
  4. He just seems like a real nice guy.  Here’s proof:

Gary has declared today as "Good People Day"…a day to recognize all the good in people instead of focusing on all the negative that often surrounds us.

I’m so fortunate to have so many wonderful people in my life and I thank you all from family, friends, clients, my blog readers, fellow bloggers, the many people who help us in our business transactions and daily life…I can go on and on and on.   The world is a great place and I thank Gary for reminding us of this and a big tip of the hat to Morgan Brown of Blown Mortgage–both Good People!   My heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Share the love and spread the word: today is Good People Day.

Recently on Rain City Guide

I can’t tell you how honored I am to be a part of Seattle’s Rain City Guide.  Here are a couple of recent posts that I really encourage you to check out…

Jillayne Schlicke just wrote a dead on post regarding our local situation with affiliated business arrangements between real estate, title and escrow and mortgage companies.  This is a topic close to my heart as before I was in lending (8 years ago), I was in the title insurance industry for 14 years.  I’ve seen drastic changes over this time since large real estate companies have entered into arrangements with title companies.   Now the State is stepping in with new regulations.   Read Jillayne’s post: Title Insurance Affiliated Business Arrangements Under Scrutiny.

ARDELL wrote a very timely post: Should You Buy Before You Sell?  Her answer is NO!  And during these times, I’m likely to agree.   Bridge loans may be hard to come by and properties are taking longer to sell.

Don’t forget…I’m on vacation and will return on April 1.

Happy Birthday, Rain City Guide!

Rain City Guide turned three today…I’m a proud contributor to this stellar Seattle real estate blog.  I left a comment congratulating Dustin Luther on this accomplishment and asked if we are a toddler now.  Jay Thompson replied

Think dog years. 3 years for a real estate blog is an eternity…

How true!  Happy Birthday, Rain City Guide.

I’m a Cicerone!

Recently I was invited to write posts on The Mortgage Cicerone.   What the heck is a Cicerone?

Cicerone – cic•e•ro•ni (-nē)

A guide for sightseers or person who is eloquent in sharing knowledge.

I’m really excited about this because I’m often asked by fellow Mortgage Professionals for help or guideance with their mortgage practice.

The Mortgage Cicerone consists of a team of Mortgage Professionals with various backgrounds, viewpoints and opinions…all combined…just may help the fellow Mortgage Professional out during these rocky times.

Tony, thanks so much for the invite…I’m flattered and look forward to where the Cierone may guide me.

Check it out.

A Welcome Diversion: Larry Cragun’s Magnificent 7

Nommag72008_2

With all the turmoil and continued tightening in the mortgage industry…some days can  seem a little dreary.  I especially welcome Larry Cragun’s Magnificent 7 articles for a nice diversion.  Truth be told, I always look forward to seeing what article’s Larry is recommending at Real Estate Undressed (it’s too bad he doesn’t include HIS incredible consumer Cragunbug articles).   He’s crawls the web and finds excellent blogs that are new to me…and maybe new to you too!

For February 2008, I’m honored to have been recognized with my post: Bait and Switch Mortgage Advertisements

In addition to my post, Larry is recommending the following consumer focused articles:

Carol Williams of Carol’s Wenatchee – Not All Home Inspections are Created Equal

Dan Melson of Searchlight Crusade – How to Get Out of Prepayment Penalties

Dan Rafter of Property Crossroads – The worst of the predators: Going After the Elderly

Jennifer Kirby of Minneapolis Real Estate Blog – Home Owners Want to be Lied To

Jeremy Hart of NRVLiving – Real Estate. Simplified. – There is Blood in the Streets – What are You Going to Do?
