Friday Funny

This four year old knows when to ask for help!

If you need help figuring the math out on your adjustable rate mortgage, don’t call 9-1-1…contact a qualified Mortgage Professional or the Loan Originator who helped  you obtain your financing.

Friday Fun: Announcing ChaToe LaFeet Red Wine

Last Friday, our crew assembled to complete our wines we started weeks ago at Castle Bridge Winery.   It was a lot of fun…down to designing our own label (and labeling the bottles, too).Img_5537_2   The wine is a Amorone style and will be ready to drink in a few months (depending on how picky your taste buds are).

We did spend quite a bit of time laughing.   The folks at Castlebridge are very kind and helpful.

Img_5545We know what we’re giving for Christmas, bringing over to Thanksgiving dinner…you get the idea.

Our label is "ChaToe LaFeet" and those are my husband’s floating feet on the label.  Watch for it in  your finer restaurants (NOT).

Our group shot is me, Rob, Julie, Marla and Cliff.

Diana Krall at Chateau Ste Michelle

Last night we went to see Diana Krall at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery.  She was fantastic (of course).   What could be better than a nice bottle of chardonnay and crab cakes with chipolte sauce while listening to Diana’s smokey voice (not to mention her top notch band).

There may still be tickets available for tonight’s show.  You can check out Ticketmaster, Craigs List or eBay.

Dress warm and enjoy!

Because it’s Friday: The Mollydooker Shake

The_boxer_2Last Friday, I told you about Mollydooker wines and apparently Sparky Marquis, CEO of Mollydooker and wine maker, reads The Mortgage Porter.  (Since he’s in Australia, what is more likely is that he has a "Google search" created for his wines).

Sparky sent me a very friendly email about Gary Vanderchuk and my post:

"I was laughing at Gary’s videos when I saw them the other day.  Now he is extremely passionate. As he said when he was doing the videos he is a great friend of ours and has always been a huge supporter of our wines.  What I realised by the end of his video was that I had forgotten to teach him about the "Mollydooker Shake" which we found to be such a critical part of what we do that we have put it on our new website www.mollydookerwines.com .  Gary said that he would be reviewing The Boxer (as well as the fall release wines, Enchanted Path, Carnival of Love and Velvet Glove) using the Mollydooker Shake, so we will be interesting to see what he says.  All of the Lefty Series wines will also be reviewed in The Wine Advocate at the end of August so it is going to be awesome to see the comparison."

My husband and I gave the Dooky Shake a try.   Earlier this week, we opened a 2006 Two Left Feet.   Doing the Dooky Shake made a huge improvement on the wine.   It’s incredible.  Before we were unsure about the 2006 Two Left Feet (compared to 2005)…now we’re thrilled.

I do recommend finding Mollydooker before the Wine Advocate review.   Wine Spectator has rated the 2006 Boxer at 90 points.   Wine Advocates rating last year created an absolute frenzy over Two Left Feet and Boxer (at the $20 price point).

If you love Aussie fruit bombs…

  1. Find Mollydooker
  2. Do the Dooky Shake.
  3. Cheers!

Calling All Patches Pals

Earlier I mentioned about an evening with JP Patches.   There are significant changes to this event…namely…its FREE!

Here’s what you need to know:

Please spread the word to all your friends who grew up watching JP Patches, Mayor of the Seattle City Dump.   He is a Seattle treasure–I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening.

Friday Fun…Wine Reviews

If you love wine, then you must check out Wine Library TV.   Gary Vaynerchuk does hysterical reviews.   He’s serious and wants to "change the wine world" and he just may do it!

In this episode, he is reviewing one of my favorite wines, Mollydooker.   The 2005 vintage was cult-like huge and highly rated by Robert Parker…the 2006 is what he’s reviewing here.

I wish he would have reviewed Boxer.  If you can find any and you like big fruit bombs wines…pick some up!   I understand that Esquinn and West Seattle Thriftway may have some (not on the shelf, you have to request it).

The video is a crack up and his reviews are solid.   Fun and substance at the same time.   I enjoy him so much (and wine too) that I’ve added a link to his blog on the lower left side of Mortgage Porter.

Cheers.

Friday Fun Post: An Evening with JP Patches

Img_3101_2

I can personally assure you that you will be hard pressed to find a more fun way to spend an evening than to do so with local treasure JP Patches

On August 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. all (well most) of your wildest dreams will come true at the Museum of History and Industry.  You can spend an evening with JP Patches and ask him all the questions you were afraid to (when you were you where a little tikey turkey).

This event is a fund raiser to benefit JP Patches’ statue fund and Children’s Hospital.
