What May Impact Mortgage Rates this Week: March 23, 2015 – RATES LOWER

We’ve seen volatility this month with rates bouncing around like a March Madness basketball. Currently rates have have been trending lower.

Here are some of the economic indicators scheduled to be released this week:

  • Monday, March 23: Existing Home Sales
  • Tuesday, March 24: Consumer Price Index (CPI) and New Home Sales
  • Wednesday, March 25: Durable Goods Orders
  • Thursday, March 24: Initial Jobless Claims
  • Friday, March 25: Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Consumer Sentiment (UoM)

As I write this post, 10:00 am on Monday, March 23, I’m quoting:

30 year fixed: 3.625% (apr 3.771%) priced with 1.187 points with  a principal and interest (p&i) payment (taxes and insurance not included) of $1,824.21..

30 year fixed: 3.750% (apr 3.831%) priced with 0.390 points with p&i of $1852.46.

20 year fixed: 3.500% (apr 3.639%) priced with 0.635 points with p&i of $2,319.84.

15 year fixed: 3.000% (apr 3.151%) priced with 0.477 points with p&i of $2,762.33

Rates quoted above are based on a purchase in the greater Seattle – King County area with a sales price of $500,000, 20% down payment and a conventional loan amount of $400,000. The home buyers have excellent credit with credit scores of 740 or higher and the transaction is closing by April 30, 2015 or sooner.
