I’ve been meaning to share this post… it’s a little painful. Hopefully it will help others who are considering doing a penny floor. As you can see from these photos, we’ve had some issues with moisture. Hubby thinks it’s probably because we took too long to finish the job. I’m no pro, however (that doesn’t stop me from having my opinion that) I think it’s mostly because we did this on a basement floor. And living in Seattle, our basements can get damp. It’s been a while since I’ve published anything about our penny floor project in our basement…quite simply, that’s because it’s been a while since we’ve worked on it! We got diverted with other projects, including an investment home that we purchased (that we installed a small penny floor in) …and my husband wound up crewing a sailboat down under for about a month…I can come up with more excuses reasons why the floor has not progressed…you get the idea. My husband and I are starting week three of installing a penny floor in our West Seattle home. Boy oh boy…I wish the room was a bit smaller!!! However, I’m pleased to say that I think we are almost 50% down with the penny installation.
