32 Years Ago Today

My how time goes by when you’re having fun! Thirty-two years ago, I began my career in real estate. My first job was being a “doc-puller” at Safeco Title in Seattle. I really enjoyed being the receptionist for Safeco since I believed that I had more job security…back in those days, employees were quickly hired and laid off depending on what was going on in the real estate industry. This was before title companies used “temps” to fill those types of positions. Eventually I was promoted to work in a title unit. I “retired” from Washington Title Company as a Branch Manager of the Federal Way office in 2000. [Read more…]

What May Impact Mortgage Rates this Week: October 6, 2014

1522456_717971534888096_812580490_oLast Friday’s Jobs Report came in better than expected and mortgage rates ticked up a little higher on Friday but are still in a tight range and essentially unchanged compared to last Monday’s rate post (slightly improved). There’s not a lot on the dance card this week for scheduled events that may impact the direction of mortgage interest rates this week. Watch for the Fed Minutes on Wednesday, which has stronger odds of moving mortgage rates. Since this week’s calendar is so light, I’m adding a couple items that will not impact rates…but are eventful!

What May Impact Mortgage Rates this Week: February 3, 2014

Mortgage Master representing the 12th Man!

SEA – HAWKS!!! SEA – HAWKS!!! Yes, I’m still very excited and thrilled over our team’s incredible Super Bowl win. Although trouncing the Denver Bronco’s in the big game won’t impact mortgage interest rates, it certainly influences the mood here in Seattle and for all Seattle Seahawk fans. We did it!!

Wednesday, January 2, 2013: ISM Index and FOMC Minutes

Thursday, January 3, 2013: ADP National Employment Report

Friday, January 4, 2013: The Jobs Report

Just a quick reminder, I am on a short vacation and will be returning to work on January 3, 2013.

My 22nd Anniversary in the RE Biz

I should stop saying how long I’ve been around the real estate industry!  On May 1, 1986, a very bright-eyed and naive young Rhonda Christopherson, began my first “real job” at Safeco Title Insurance Company as a doc-puller (we were bought a year later by Chicago Title, where I worked in Unit 5).

After 14 years in the title industry, I made the move to mortgage and I’ve been helping Washington families with their Mortgage Planning needs for the past 8 years…the rest is history!Seahawks_3

Yes…that is Chuck Knox, that was my hair style in the 80s and yes, I’m wearing yellow Reeboks with actual jersey.
