Thirty-two years ago, I began my career in real estate. My first job was being a “doc-puller” at Safeco Title in Seattle. I really enjoyed being the receptionist for Safeco since I believed that I had more job security…back in those days, employees were quickly hired and laid off depending on what was going on in the real estate industry. This was before title companies used “temps” to fill those types of positions. Eventually I was promoted to work in a title unit. What May Impact Mortgage Rates this Week: October 6, 2014

1522456_717971534888096_812580490_oLast Friday’s Jobs Report came in better than expected and mortgage rates ticked up a little higher on Friday but are still in a tight range and essentially unchanged compared to last Monday’s rate post (slightly improved). There’s not a lot on the dance card this week for scheduled events that may impact the direction of mortgage interest rates this week. Watch for the Fed Minutes on Wednesday, which has stronger odds of moving mortgage rates. Since this week’s calendar is so light, I’m adding a couple items that will not impact rates…but are eventful!

SEA – HAWKS!!! SEA – HAWKS!!! Yes, I’m still very excited and thrilled over our team’s incredible Super Bowl win. Although trouncing the Denver Bronco’s in the big game won’t impact mortgage interest rates, it certainly influences the mood here in Seattle and for all Seattle Seahawk fans. We did it!!

What May Impact Mortgage Rates this Week: January 20, 2014

Mortgage rate update for the week of December 31, 2012

Happy last day of 2012! Although this is a short week due to the New Year holiday, it’s packed with economic data that may impact mortgage rates, including The Jobs Report on Friday. Here are a few of the scheduled events for this week:

Monday, December 31, 2012: Last day for Congress to avoid the “fiscal cliff”.

Tuesday, January 1, 2013: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
