Freddie Mac’s Prime Mortgage Market Survey released today reports that mortgage rates for the 30 year fixed conforming averaged just below 4% last week. Last week’s average rate (per Freddie Mac’s report) for a 30 year conforming mortgage was 3.97% priced with 0.6 points.
From Freddie Mac’s Chief Economist, Stan Becketti:
“Concerns about overseas economic developments have dominated financial markets to start the year. U.S. Treasury bond yields fell amidst a global equity selloff and flight to safety. In response, the 30-year mortgage rate dipped 4 basis points to 3.97 percent.”
