Mortgage Rate update for the Week of November 19, 2012

mortgageporter-economyCan you believe Thanksgiving is this week? I’m in a bit of shock that the holiday season is upon us. Mortgage Master Service Corporation will close on Thursday, November 22, 2012 and reopen on Monday, November 26, 2012.

Here are a few of the scheduled economic indicators that may impact mortgage rates this week:

Monday, November 19: Existing Home Sales

Tuesday, November 20: Housing Starts and Building Permits

Wednesday, November 21: Initial Jobless Claims and Consumer Sentiment (UoM)

Thursday, November 22: Happy Thanksgiving!

With this being a short week, expect additional volatility in the stock/bond markets with fewer traders around due to the holiday weekend. You may see mortgage rates bounce around more than usual. Click here if I can provide you with a mortgage rate quote for your home in Washington state.

As I write this post (8:15 am) the DOW is up 166 and mortgage backed securities are slightly in the red.

Just for fun, since this is a major “foodie” weekend, I thought I’d share my cooking blog with you: Sip n Simmer. I even have a couple recipes for smoked turkey on the Big Green Egg.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday weekend.
