About Rhonda Porter

Thumb_meandjp

Rhonda began blogging in late 2006 after watching a news report involving a local case of mortgage fraud and hearing the reporting misstate facts about the licensing of mortgage originators. She feels there is plenty to write about to help consumers learn more about their mortgage and the process of buying a home. She also likes to provide practical financial advice and to write about her Seattle community.

Bob, Marilyn and John Porter

She started her mortgage career at Mortgage Master Service Corporation (NMLS #40445) on April 1, 2000. Mortgage Master Service Corporation was owned by the Porter family (yes, her in-laws) and helped Puget Sound area homeowners since 1976. After many years of service, our family owned and operated company is winding down. On October 31, 2022, joined New American Funding (NMLS #6606) as a Licensed Loan Officer (MLO-121324).

Rhonda began her career in real estate in 1986 in the title and escrow industry. Her Da1_2background in the title and escrow industry have provided Rhonda with an invaluable perspective and has impacted Rhonda’s business tremendously. It is crucial for her clients to be as happy with her from start to finish and to always understand what is happening throughout the transaction.

Rhonda has been interviewed by the Seattle PI, Seattle Times, the Associated Press, NPR, Wall Street Journal’s Market Watch, New York Times, Trulia, Inman News, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine to name a few. She also teaches mortgage and real estate professionals the benefits of being transparent in business by using various forms of social media. Inman News deemed her as one of Real Estate’s Top 50 Most Influential Online 2009. She  has been recognized by National Mortgage Professional’s Top 25 Most Connected Mortgage Professionals three consecutive years. She was a speaker at the 2012 and 2011 Mortgage Tech Summit and was a panelist at the Lusk Center for Real Estate at USC for a class on mortgage origination. In addition, Rhonda authors a(neglected) blog Sip-n-Simmer, which is about food, wine and whatever she’s cooking!

On a more personal note…Rhonda and her husband have a busy family life with a consisting of three terrific kids (who have all recently left “the nest”) and their two pets, Rocko and Hitch.

She’s happiest in the kitchen making dinner for her family or working on a painting. Rhonda has lived in the Pacific Northwest most of her life. A majority of her childhood was up in Renton, she now lives in West Seattle. In addition to her family, she enjoys sailing, travel, gardening, reading, vintage autos, photography, painting and wine…and is a huge fan of JP Patches Pal! (RIP JP)
