DIY Sea Glass Mirror – Part 2

I must admit, my sea glass mirror has been hanging in the bathroom for a while now…I just haven’t had the time to write this post to share my results. In my last post, I had a base of flat glass glued along the border of the mirror.

The next step was to glue larger pieces of sea glass layered on top of the flat glass. Before actually gluing the glass, I selected the pieces and set them where I thought I’d like them to be, rearranging them as needed.

Because of the slope to the beveled part of the mirror, I sometimes had to use what ever I could (coffee cups, candles, etc.) to keep the glass from sliding.

Rocko enjoys supervising this project just as much as the penny floor (which is still not finished, btw).

After the layer of larger sea glass is set, I start to fill in with smaller pieces of glass.

I kept the layers to a minimum as I didn’t want to add too much weight to the mirror. In addition to the wall mount that came with the mirror, we used a construction adhesive on the back of the mirror to make sure it stays put. We used “Strong Stik” which dries very quick.

Ta da!!

This bathroom does not have a lot of natural light – I’ll have to update this post on a bright sunny day. (It’s a classic grey, winter day in Seattle today).

Stay tuned for my next DIY post… maybe we’ll actually finish the penny floor!
